First ultrasound?

How do people get ultrasounds so early. I understand if you have had complications before or are doing IVF but my first appointment isn’t until 10 weeks 3 days and that’s not even an ultrasound. I have to schedule one after that appointment. It seems like everyone these days gets it way sooner than that

Are you in a big city? I live in a rural area and I have always been able to get my ultrasounds around 8 or 9 weeks. 2 previous pregnancies and I have my ultrasound appointment for 8 weeks 6 days scheduled for this pregnancy. Could you ask for earlier?

Obgyns don’t want to see you before that as sometimes heartbeat takes a while to establish and be heard. By 8-12w you know that everything will be seen/heard so they don’t make appointment before that. Is it stupid? Absolutely as they have to teach especially first time moms what they can eat, what meds are safe and so on. How people get early appointment? They have high risk pregnancies, IUI or IVF. Just not everyone is open about it. I’ve always done ultrasounds from 5w as I’m doing IUI. Honestly don’t be jealous…with my daughter at the 5w appointment they said they see the sack but nothing in it…a week of worry passed and at my 6w appointment they said “questionable egg sack”…cried my eyes for a week…at week 7 they saw the baby but no heartbeat….yet again a week of worry….finally at week 8 she had a heartbeat and they discharged me to my obgyn.

There are a lot of places that offer 3D ultrasounds and they provide ultrasounds starting at 6-7weeks. You just pay out of pocket. I did this until I could see my OBGYN. Roughly it was about $50 per session. It did provide me some relief to see a heartbeat and that baby was growing. Just remember they are not physicians ❤️

I’m getting my first ultra sound around 10 weeks.

Honestly, if you are having no issues 10 weeks is the perfect time to see baby! They actually look like a baby and not a blob lol
