First midwife appointment info pls

Waiting on first midwife apt. I knoq some people have it at home. If you did, were you given a choice? My partner works nights so is asleep during day. It's likely if he can't get time off, that I will fly solo for the apt but worried if they don't give me a choice but to have home visit and it messes up his limited rest time. Must point out I'm not asking coz he will get angry etc, just he works 12-14 hour shifts so needs his sleep before leaving for work again. Thanks

I’m sure if you explained the circumstances they would let you go to their clinic for the booking appointment but at some point the midwife would need to have an appointment in your home so she can check the home conditions and make sure it’s suitable for a baby x

I've not had a home visit and all my appointments have either been at the birthing centre or at the doctors surgery. I believe the first time the community midwife will visit the house is the day after I give birth. But definitely have a conversation with the midwife team and see what they say :) I've found them to be incredibly accommodating and helpful x

I believe it depends on the health board on where your appointments are but as above I’m sure if you explain about him working nights then they’ll do it at the gp or clinic, my first appointment was at the birthing centre, I’m Caerphilly so AB health board 😊 @Ann-Marie I can see you’re Caerphilly too, my 34 week appointment was at home x

@Jess ah! I may just not quite have gotten there yet lol. I feel like I have appointments coming out of my ears at the moment .... x
