Do You Ever Feel Like Some Conversations Just Don’t Have Enough Energy?

Does anyone else get confused when they’re having conversations with someone who messages every day but the conversations end up feeling super dry? Like, you’re trying to keep the conversation going, share things about your day, and make an effort, but all you get back are short, basic responses. I totally get that not every conversation has to be super deep, but it just makes me wonder why someone would message every day if they’re not really engaging. I don’t want to end the friendship over it, but I do wish there was a little more effort in the back-and-forth. Anyone else experience this?

I find some women are dry texters but that’s because they are talkers- I’d rather FaceTime or meet them face to face as I can get much more out of them that way. Other mums, have social anxiety so comfortable with texting a whole bunch behind the phone, but dry and awkward IRL. So maybe the girl you are referring to, just likes to talk rather than text. If that’s the case, send voice msgs or FT her or meetup more. I have one friend that sends me voice msgs only, and another friend will read my msg but leave me on read all day but then reply at 9-10pm because she’s busy and couldn’t reply during day. And another chick I FaceTime every couple days w a snap sent to her every day. So it depends on that mum and how she likes to communicate.

I find those to be the bots or fake profiles but I definitely have the similar experience

Yes , I get that alot. I suck at small talk is get it...its cringe , but i would rather someone be themselves no matter what.

@Kellie I get that everyone has different ways of communicating, and I don’t expect constant replies. But if someone is always dry over text, Im not going to keep chasing them to talk in another way.

@Telia I get that! She does respond all the time, but it’s always really short, so it still feels like there no effort to keep the convo going.
