When did your toddlers stop crying at nursery drop off?

Hi! I started sending my little one to nursery two full days a week last September but she still cries at drop off. It’s emotional big sobs and screaming and I don’t know what to do. Pulls at my heart strings when she’s screaming mama and I just leave. What has helped with yours? Don’t know if I need to send her for more days, she’s just turned 19 months

It’s just separation anxiety at this age. I just pass my little one into carers arms and I kiss him and leave. Week 4 here and he’s stopped the crying. Every time I collect him they say once I turn the corner he’s already totting into the room happily.

Hey! Mine has been going since June last year and still cries at about 75% of drop offs. I know he settles quickly and is happy when I collect him, and seems happy through the day, and even happy/excited when we get close to nursery so I’ve just come to accept that he doesn’t like the initial separation and just try and do a quick goodbye and kiss and then get it over with to be honest… He has been going three days from two since Jan and is a bit better since then so I don’t know if that’s helped a bit or it’s just him getting used to it

I started sending mine in July when she turned 1 and I think from what I remember she only cried a couple of times during her settling in sessions. She goes 3 full days and hasn’t cried since.

Thanks all!

It's taken like 3 months for us. We found dropping off and not hanging around is best and I text them after and they always say she settled down within 10 minutes and is playing (sends photos). It'll be the initial separation (but it doesn't get any easier for us!) Xx

Thanks @Jess . It is hard but good to know I’m not the only who has a LO that still cries at drop off! She does settle afterwards which is good

Mine started at 10 months old, cried up until a month ago (18months old), knew she settled as soon as I was out of sight. Now she waves me off and blows kisses “mummies away”
