“So cute, I can just eat him/her up”

Ok so I got into an awkward situation on here today. Everyone around me talks about babies being so cute that they’re “edible.” For example, so cute I can eat him up. Or, I’m gonna bite her cheeks Or, I’m gonna gobble her up Obviously no one intends to eat the baby, it’s a phrase a lot of people use but apparently not everyone because I creeped a mother out by saying I can eat her son up…like lol no I’m not a cannibal, that’s gross, your baby is just very cute. It is normal and I relate to the feeling people are describing quite well, but no I don't say it. It doesn't sound quite right coming out of my mouth and even if it did my toddler would take it too literally. Even similar jokes it's either 'baby sister isn't food' or he would try to actually do it.

This is one of those things , you know of it , you think of it , it is harmless, but you just don't say it out loud because people are.…..well people .🤷🏾‍♀️.

Cute agression. Is that like wanting to squeeze/squish cute stuff?

If it helps, in my family we also talk about a baby being “so stupid, we just want to punch him/her in the face.” It is the most extreme form of love and endearment and is met with complete agreement…. Just us??? LOL. Ok by me. 😂

@Victoria~ yes!!! It’s the very reason people pinch little kids cheeks 🤣 No, I don’t pinch kids cheeks, I HATED when adults did that to me as a child. But literally everyone I know throws around the phrase “I want to eat those cheeks” or something similar. Like no one I have ever encountered in my circles thinks it’s weird. So, today I learned something new and now I can be more mindful in the future. I just got curious what others think because I’m new at this being considered weird.

My oldest daughter has cute aggression! It mostly comes out like this, not with anything verbal she says :) at least not yet hahaha

My daughters family used to say “i just wanna punch you in the face” it was deeply disturbing. Not sure if this was a cultural thing OR equivalent to “I could eat you” but it was a no from me

@Sera Kay ✨ not the same thing but that sounds fun 🤣🤣

@Autumn that’s so cute omg 😭 she’s throttling it

@Victoria~ the first few times I noticed her doing it I was freaked out 😂 I didn’t know what cute aggression/ love aggression was. thought I was gonna have to sleep with one eye open the rest of my life

“I could eat her up” sounds fine to me but “yummy boy” feels a little weird (if we are talking about the same post). I don’t have a good reason lol it just feels a little too far.

@Autumn she’s adorable!!!

@Autumn that’s so funny! She’s so yum

My brother in law is like this with my daughters, he says things like “Look at her, She’s so cute I just want to kick her, trip her or pinch her” obviously he would never do it. But it’s the funniest thing ever.😂 My daughter loves him and they wrestle and play together the whole time we visit them.😂

Honestly I am the cheek biter person 😭! I be like “awe look at those fat cheeks, they’re so pinch able” others may find it weird but it’s no harm in behind it at all. It’s a family thing really and even I grew up with my cheeks being pinched 😭!! I mean who doesn’t love the chonky cute babies 🥹
