We started at 22 months old. Our boy is now 2.5 and he is finally potty trained! Although he still has accidents at night/nap or sometimes when he's too excited and too busy to tell us :) So it took like 8 months of hard work. I think with our younger daughter we won't make this mistake and wait till she is already talking and can understand. I think 30 months is a great age if you want to start early. I recommend "oh crap potty training" book!
I waited until my girls were around 2 to try. We just went cold turkey and said no more diapers (unless we were going out or it was bedtime). We would test them every once in a while leading up to it to see if they minded if they peed in their underwear. If they didn't we went back to diapers for a bit, but as soon as they minded we started their training. We used the 3 day training method and it seemed to work really well with both girls.
Did my son at 23 months, got the naked thing. Not the underwear thing. Tried for a week with underwear and it wasn’t working. So took the pressure off. He still wanted to sit on the potty so he did and then I waited for the chaos of the holidays to be over and tried again at. 26 months with underwear and he got it right away. He night trained himself by 30 months which surprised me the most. But we would have dry pull ups night after night for a month when I decided it wasn’t worth it anymore

We have been discussing it with our daughter since she’s 1.5y (now 2y). We’ve been telling her when we need to go, and what goes in the toilet. And sometimes she wants to try. She has been successful a few times, but is still in diapers. At least now she tells us before she poops, in the hopes that we make it to the potty in time; never happens that way but the communication is starting
We waited till my son was 3.5yrs because he wasn’t ready before. It took a week and a half and he’s a pro now. My friend potty trained her daughter when she was about 18 months and she regressed and it took a few years to get her back to being trained so I highly recommend not rushing! Looking for the signs that she’s ready. She may be at 14 months but I’d personally wait till my child was older
