Whos baby falls asleep on the bottle?

Aside from everything that says not to - I sometimes find it impossible for it not to happen especially if nap was short!

Is there anything you're concerned about? If they're gaining weight, having wet nappies, feeding normal, I'd say there's nothing to worry about here. My 5 month old only falls asleep on the bottle if they've had a good playtime and are very tired or during night feeds.

Everything i have researched says not to create a sleep/feed association as when they wake up theyll rely on the feed to put them back to sleep again..

Mine will fall asleep to the bottle at night-time, his last feed of the day before bed or during the night. Often not fully asleep but very drowsy. Never does during the day. When they get older they tend to learn their own method of how to self soothe anyway which helps them fall back to sleep if they wake up, unless they are actually hungry

I guess certainly don't make it a habit as it'll put pressure on you to maintain this and you definitely don't want the reliance this way. Its normal here and there. My 5 month old knows how to sleep by himself if he wakes up mid-sleep both day and night. What's important is that you create a day and night sleep routine so they don't rely on being fed to sleep. At day time, as its full of play or entertainment, my baby falls asleep naturally. At night time we have a set routine for our baby which is a bath or a wipe down, low lighting, white noise etc and cuddling and he's straight to sleep.

My little girl fell asleep on the bottle a lot when she was younger, she rarely needed a feed to get back to sleep if she woke in the night though. I can’t remember when but she did just grow out of it, maybe around 8 months old. She’s now 18 months and doesn’t have a bottle anymore and still sleeps well (most of the time). Please don’t worry too much x

It’s absolutely fine and actually a really natural way for babies to fall asleep! It won’t last forever x

My 4mo is still feeding once during the night some nights, and he usually falls asleep on the boob. In the evening sometimes he goes down while feeding, sometimes after playing. Last night for the first time he woke up just a couple of hours after going down and he was clearly not hungry, I got him back down just rocking him with the dummy, so clearly he's not dependant 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think the point would be more to try and avoid feeding them back to sleep if they're not hungry, so don't automatically give them the bottle/boob every time they wake up.

I second @Giorgia as it is important to understand your baby's queues as they may not always want to feed but want comfort to fall back to sleep. It's all trial and error as you go through the motions of understanding them and their needs.
