How they went about it with my baby is, we trialed no diary in my diet for 3-7 days to see if the symptoms would go, which they did. My LO had it really bad, bloody stools every nappy change until we stopped the diary in my diet and fortifier she was fine. We was advised when she’s 1 well trial diary back into her diet

Hi! Our baby really struggled gaining weight and dropped from the 50 centile to below the 8th. Mainly because she was constantly bringing her bottle back up. Had really bad reflux, was constantly squirming and her belly was hard after a bottle. Really runny green poos often. She also had a rash which at the time was blamed as heat rash. We tried all the different milks but some of the cows milk allergy milk still have protein in them so ended up on neocate. The only milk she gained weight properly on. So I’m guessing that’s how they came to the conclusion. It was tight really as she ended up not even wanting to have a bottle at the beginning

Oh wow poor little one, good that you were able to get on top of it! I've been trialling no dairy for a few weeks and had some milk the other day by accident which brought the rash back so almost certain it must be CMPA. I've booked a GP appointment to have it looked into so was just curious how they might find out for sure really

Hey - so my baby was put on a part hydrolysed formula for 4 weeks didn’t help then put onto a fully hydrolysed formula which helped massively. She has a severe allergy along with others. We weren’t diagnosed by a GP though it was through the dietician. We now have an appointment for the allergy clinic in March, we’ve waited 12 months for it!! She didn’t gain any weight, had loose stools with mucus, rashes, snuffly nose, cough. She’s now gaining weight perfectly. Although she has failed the 1st stage of the milk ladder 3 times 😩 she’s now under the dietician, paediatric consultant & allergy clinic!

Good luck ❤️ to be honest they were hopeless at the beginning. There was a lot of back and forth with them and my health visitor. Once you get referred to a paediatrician though they are really good help. I had to push a lot with my gp x

My baby was fussy, refused bottle breast milk majority of the time, and eczema. Took her poop to the doctor to test for blood in stool and it was confirmed that she was allergic to dairy. I was told to wait till 1 years old to start dairy ladder. Usually it takes 2 weeks to get dairy out of your system and 4-6 weeks out of your LO system. Plus you never know if they are allergic to soy, egg, or other things. My nephew is allergic to dairy, soy, and egg.

If formula fed they give you a partially hydrolysed formula to see if it helps with the symptoms. If the symptoms persist they offer an amino acid formula to trial for 6 weeks. After the 6 weeks they get you go back to normal formula and if symptoms return they will keep baby on the prescribed formula either until they are 6 months old and introduce the milk ladder or wait for them to be 6 months dairy free x

Thanks so much for the replies, really helpful 😘

Dietary elimination and reintroduction

Both my girls were given Pepti 1 which worked straight away and we never had to trial dairy again until after they were 1. Both got a referral to an allergy specialist. My eldest (3) got Pepti 1 at 8 weeks old after 6 weeks of being unwell and doctors not helping. My youngest (1) got Pepti 1 prescribed at 4 days old x

Thwre is only 2 ways to know if it's an allergy Take dairy out of the system for 6 weeks and slowly reintroduce and if symptoms come back it's dairy Second way is only for immediate ige reactions such as swelling in the face This is either a blood test or a skin prick test My girl had the blood test which come back fine but my paeds and dietician want to be sure and we are waiting on skin prick testing because as a baby she would wheeze badly and her eyes swelled up which they believe is a ige sign but unfortunately it took so long to get the appointment

@Emma-louise we saw the GP yesterday and were advised to do the 4-6 weeks no dairy then test have some again, if the symptoms come back then they'll refer to the dietician. Thanks for your help and hope you can get to the bottom of it with your little girl x

Aslong as you aren't weaning beforehand all will be okay with that Also make sure when you introduce again take it really slowly, I only mention this as most GPS don't Hoping you find out the answers you want 🙏

@Emma-louise thanks! ☺️

my baby had terrible vomiting and diarrhea rashes etc and her pediatrician told me to take this paper thing home and when she goes number two to use a stick and swatch it on the tester and bring it back
