Walking on tip toes

Hi mamas, my 2 year old walks on tiptoes and even in shoes too. What could this possibly mean? When she just started walking she would do the same thing and the doctor told us not to worry about it. She said all kids do this when they’re just learning to walk. But it’s been a year now and she does it sometimes. We haven’t gotten the chance to speak to her doc because she recently gave birth and is on mommy vaca… does anyone know the answer to this? Thank you.

I’d ask the doctor but if it’s just every so often then I think it’s just playing. When my son started it was just funny. And I asked what he was doing and it was just games. And he still does it just playing. And my 1 year old is doing it too. But it’s just sometimes. If it was an every time thing then it could mean autism but not all the time

Did u used walkers where they sit on to walk.. I was told is because of that

From an alternative point of view, it could possibly be related to a heavy metal exposure/toxicity. Toe walking is apparently one of the symptoms of mercury in the body. Maybe theres a way to get the child tested, and if it is in the system, it can be detoxed.

Her tendons in her foot could be too tight.

@Clarisa no! We did both use walkers, I was afraid she would get hurt by one haha,

Thank you everyone for helpful advice. I will probably end up going to an orthopedic maybe they know something.

Autism

Highly recommend seeing a pediatric podiatrist. My daughter does the same. We just saw him for the first time and it’s something genetic she apparently got from me. We have an e type foot anatomy which is causing her to toe walk to keep balance! She was given a product called little steps which are pediatric orthotics. I can’t speak on how they work but I’ve heard great things. She just got them two days ago and we have to get new shoes for her so haven’t tried them much! But the two doctors that invented them are local to me so I actually met with the creator and I’m very hopefully. I actually have an appointment to get my own!

Also to clarify. Toe walking does not equal autism. Please disregard the people saying that. However, children with autism do often toe walk but toe walking alone does not mean she has autism.

When you get a diagnosis from an actual doctor can you reply here with your results. Thanks

@Alyssa wow, thank you so much for the most helpful response!! That’s actually great, the pediatric podiatrist is actually right across the street from me so I will definitely go after reading all that🩷 And I’m ignoring everyone that says autism definitely!! My daughter doesn’t have any autism, we got it checked out a few months ago because I was concerned for her. She would cover her ears but it ended up being a “stage”… nothing to worry about haha.

Oh yay that’s awesome to hear you got the autism checked out. Like some said it could be a genetic thing or just a thing they do. But personally think it’s just a fun thing they like to do. I’ve just heard other people say it could be autism. But for sure doesn’t mean that. I’m glad they are close where you can get it checked out. If you go anytime soon I would love to hear what they say and think about it. If you want to update this post or even just message me I’d love to know. We havnt gotten my kids checked out but I’d like to hear what an actual doctor has to say about it

@Gabrielle so we went to the orthopedic and he said it was muscle weakness. Which is nothing serious thankfully!! He explained to me the massages that I need to do for her toes/feet. And we’re going to her first therapy sesh tomorrow actually. Not sure what they will be doing there, but he mentioned fun exercises for the kiddo!

Oh nice! Okay thanks for letting me know. Did they say what could cause he weakness?
