BUTTERRRR 🧈

I’ve seen this new craze on Instagram about giving your baby butter to help sleep, I see mixed reviews on this, have you seen/heard/done it? If you’ve done it, what’s your thoughts on this? I’m just curious 👀

I have heard about it and I’m guessing the theory behind it is that butter is high in fat and as dietary fats take a long time to digest, it aids in satiety levels so baby won’t wake up as often for a feed. But then seeing Americans do it, they don’t use real butter like say Kerrygold, they’re actually using margarine 🥴

I wouldn't personally give simple butter as they are high in fat and baby can have health issues in long run if given every evening 🫠

Natural butter has so many health benefits for babies, I haven’t personally tried giving her a spoon if butter but I always cook my toddlers food in butter, her fried eggs in butter etc. she’s slept through the night since she was 1 years old, she’s now 3 x

I’ve heard of it. I wouldn’t do it. If I wanted to take the route of giving a baby a higher fat content in a meal I would give them avocado or meat.

@Santa I second this

Adding butter is recommended by paediatricians among other things as part of a high calorie weaning diet for babies who need some help to gain weight. I imagine someone has taken this information to start this craze, whilst parents having to fortify their babies meals would absolutely love to not have to do so.

I can’t imagine how awful a spoonful of butter tastes so I wouldn’t, there’s plenty of other things out there to help them sleep.

Or better yet… let baby’s be baby’s and realized no InFlUeNcEr hack can force your baby to sleep better

Ya, this was something my grandmother suggested at one point, but no. A glass of full fat warmed milk or a spoon full of peanut butter maybe once they are old enough.
