TW: Loss

I am posting for awareness, not to scare. The odds are 1 in 1,000. I found out I was pregnant at 3w + 2d with baby #2. At my first appointment Monday, I should’ve been 9w + 5d. The ultrasound results were that of a complete molar pregnancy. Essentially the sperm tried to fertilize an “empty” egg, resulting in a tumor in my uterus bigger than the size of an apple, instead of a baby. I messaged my obgyn office twice regarding my extreme sickness, fatigue, complete loss of appetite, and 12 lb weight loss in 2.5 weeks. I went to the ER (per obgyn) once where they gave me fluids and nausea medication. They did not give me an ultrasound while in the ER due to “OB being busy”. Friday I am scheduled for a D&E. Molar pregnancies require extensive follow up. They have to check HCG levels once a week to make sure they go back down to zero. If they start to raise, chemotherapy is the next step. This happens in 20% of complete molar pregnancies. Advocate for yourself, if something truly seems really off, go with your instincts.
