Reformer Pilates Girlies

Hi girls, for those of you who carried on doing reformer pilates while pregnant, at how many weeks have you decided to stop or reduce? Any significant modifications to watch out for the 3rd trimester? Currently 22weeks, I keep doing reformer 2-3 times a week along with some strength training, but not sure until when I can continue (and when to pause my membership!) Any tips are welcome!

Basically avoid twisting or anything that is very active on the core like planking or crunches, as this compresses baby. I went until 34 weeks (only stopped at this point because I was absolutely exhausted after the class), so felt like time to stop pushing myself. I’d say just listen to your body - it may be earlier or you may manage all the way through.

My studio offers prenatal classes and I’ve seen women go up to 40 weeks. At 20 weeks they require all women to use a bolster so they aren’t on their back

And no twisting!

I didn’t even think we could still do Pilates 🙃 I hired a PT and have been doing strength training though. Looking forward to getting back into Pilates classes

Oh thanks girls! Super useful tips! Appreciate it

Yes Marilyn pilates is safe as long as you do adjustment - recommend finding a prenatal reformer pilates certified coach to ensure you're not pushing too hard.
