If you've had a previous MC or MCs, super sorry💔💗, how early can you get a reassurance scan will the NHS do it? EPU?

Looking to try again next month but obviously even more anxious after miscarriage 😥

Commenting as I want to know the same.

Hiya no earlier than 6 wks they usually say

No sooner than 6 weeks but even when I was having a mc because it didn’t show on a pregnancy test they wouldn’t give me one and I ended up going private for reassurance.

I don’t know if it was just my trust who done this but I was told you had to have 3 miscarriages or a ectopic for an NHS early reassurance. Personally I was not offered one till I had a ectopic when the nurse said is self refer for a 6 weeks scan if I ever fall pregnant again x

I paid for a private scan (£40) at 5wks and was able to see heartbeat.

7 weeks at a private scan NHS won’t scan you until 12 weeks unless your under the recurrent miscarriage clinic and then it depends when they can fit you in for a scan

You can always go to A&E and they will scan you (although will be a long wait). With my first I had some pains and went in early and they scanned me to check for ectopic. Was around 6/7 weeks

I was told during my MC 2 weeks ago if I get pregnant again I can phone up EPU for a reassurance scan at 7 weeks

@Jo I would never recommend this, the NHS is on its knees and going to A&E because you want scanned isn’t okay. Unless your bleeding out heavily in fear for your life I wouldn’t be going to A&E x

@Jo this is a good waste of NHS time for sure. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this. It is not an accident or an emergency and there is literally EPU for a reason. Even during my miscarriage I was told to only go to a&e if I had uncontrollable bleeding or severe pain.

Wow that’s so bad of the nhs! I called 111 in 2022 and they advised me to go to A&E as told me any pain should be checked out. So sad that being told that have to be in uncontrollable pain or bleeding out to go now

@Jo I think your wording here was bad then. You made it sound like oh just go to a&e when you feel as if the nhs isn’t struggling big time as it is

If you are ever in pain or miscarriaging please do seek medical help don’t be afraid of clogging up NHS. Calling 111 first may help and sending best wishes for future pregnancies 💖

@Jo with both my losses they always told me to wait and go to early preg unit the next day. A&E can’t do much for you unless you’re literally developing an infection or bleeding out and your own life is at risk. A&E won’t do anything if baby is at risk other than send you home until early unit opens. I phoned 111 as I had the flu whilst miscarrying and they told me to wait x

I get scans at 6 weeks any time I’m pregnant due to ectopic but that’s the only reason but tbh I wish I didn’t as I feel sometimes at 6 weeks it is too early and it causes more stress and anxiety having to wait a further week or 2 so I’ve asked if next time I can wait till 7/8 weeks. Totally get it that u want peace of mind I did before my recent loss but now I defo want to wait till I know there should definitely be soemthing visible there xx

Thank you for the thoughts, definitely seems post 7 weeks is best with the private route. The EPU thing happened so fast, but slow at the same time, the nurse did mention, waiting and dating the next pregancy so it confused me. 🤔

Mine wouldn't see me, even when I was worried about a bit of spotting. I went private in the end.
