We completely skipped purees and went straight to BLW, she hardly ever gags, let alone choking. I just give her what we are having for tea but in finger food form. She eats a lot đ«
you could try scrambled egg, itâs so soft it might be a good step between puree and finger food. or weetabix, porridge in the morning - a bit thicker than a puree i guess
Maybe try mashing things so they are a bit lumpy as a way of transitioning. Avocado is a good one as it can be puree, mashed or in sticks so they can try all of them
I feel the same Iâm so scared of the gagging/ choking and my boy gags a lot does that a lot so I hate the finger food but still trying. Omelette is quite good in strips and toast (with banana or avocado or cream cheese). Pieces of veg like broccoli, salmon. We do a lot of porridge for breakfast with mashed raspberries or blueberries.
My little girl loves toast! She also has broccoli, avocado, strawberries, banana, egg, omelette, salmon. If you download the solid starts app, it shows you how to prepare food for the babies age. .

My boy wouldn't take purees. I tried so many times and he spat it all out. Gave him a bit of broccoli one day and he ate the lot...now we offer yoghurt and porridge but everything else is finger food...it is scary and my boy gags a lot but it's their way of learning! Just make sure the foods are a suitable size
