Insomnia and high blood pressure

For the last few weeks at my midwife scans and baby scans I’ve been getting high readings for blood pressure which I’m sure is linked to when I have terrible sleeps, for example last night I slept for 3 hours then I was awake from 130am. Today my home readings have been high. Sometimes my blood pressure is about 138/81 and this is true of it at the midwives and hospital. They haven’t said anything to me so I’m hoping this is okay??? Has anyone else’s blood pressure been so high? What has anyone said about it?

Your readings with the hospital and midwives should be below 140/90 and home readings 135/85, although the odd reading above that is ok. Lack of sleep definitely impacts my blood pressure!

I'm being monitored for high blood pressure and they said anything consistently over 140/90 I need to call the hospital. My close friend is a midwife and when mine sat similar to yours, she said if it carried on, to call and ask for advice with it being close to concern but by the next day it had settled

I tend to find that it’s worse around appointment time but at home it can vary and some days there is no problem at all. Or like when I’ve done a cardio day it’s super low for the majority of of the day, I just can’t do that all the time as I’m getting tired being 36 weeks now

I think the fact it fluctuates day to day is not a cause for concern as mine is very much the same. If it's on the higher side and you start with headaches and swelling etc then definitely get some advice ☺️

That’s what I’m thinking. I’ve not had any other symptoms apart from just feeling the increase occasionally.
