Is a laptop too much?

My son rarely asks for anything, but lately he has been asking for a laptop for his birthday (which is at the end of this month). I was considering getting him one (a little cheap one) but my partner says it’s too much as he’s still too young. What’s your opinion?

Mine got a tablet as he can a few play games on it and go on YouTube Kids but we still have full parental permissions set on everything.

@Amy he has a tablet already, but now since he started having computing at school, he’s become obsessed with laptops, how they work and what you can do with them

I would say it’s not too much considering going into year 7 or if they have already started then they will need a laptop is how I see it my son is 11 in August going to year 7 in September so he’s getting a laptop
