Why is my anxiety so cruel

Why is anxiety so cruel! I’m due to go on my first plane in 2 weeks and I can’t breath thinking about it. How will I cope if I have a panic attack? And what if I’m that scared to when I arrive at my destination , I won’t get back on the plane and I get stuck in that country? I don’t want to take medication for it because I’m scared of taking medication. Has anyone advice?

I also have a lot of anxiety around flying, and either need medication or a support person. What are your fears when it comes to medication?

I’ve had to go on meds because my anxiety is so bad I just couldn’t cope with it, I was getting physical symptoms.

@Raqi side effects! :(

@Sam what meds please? X

Try some more natural remedies? Listen to some calming music. I’m a terrible flyer and I always get anxious. The more you fly the more you get used to it. (Sort of 😩)

I normally take gravol 30 mins before boarding but that's also cuz I very easily get motion sickness and takeoff/landing kinda sets that off. It also makes me drowsy so trying to nap helps pass the time. If it's a longer flight I need to take one before we start descending too. I've also taken Ativan before. That's only if my husband is traveling with me. I had to take an hour flight both ways in August with my then 18 month old and I took the bare minimum of gravol that would help but not make me zonked

I'll be honest, the side effects can suck. For a while it made me puke when I took it, but that didn't happen the last few times I flew. But a little drowsiness and vomiting was worth it to be able to fly. And now I can even manage to fly without it sometimes! Like doing it medicated was a way to practice doing it without freaking out, so it got easier

My friend is like that, she goes to her doctors and he gives her diazipam to keep her calm

Well I don’t take meds either… what about CBD?

I take Xanax before I get on a plane

I can’t get on plane for this reason so I don’t remember the rules and stuff. But I suggest meditation too. But I am also afraid of taking medication so I get that also lmao. Some things that help me during an attack… put something cold on your chest or your neck. Mild pain like digging nails into my palm.
