Has anyone been under tameside Hospital and had really good care from start to finish?

They were brilliant with me I have just had my twins there , also they were prem babies and the after care and making sure babies were ok they were fantastic

Legally all maternity appointments have to paid. It’s the law. The fathers don’t. That’s the difference. Your legally allowed two hours for the appointment. Or what your employer deems appropriate timing. If you’re not on a zero hour contract then. Yes, it’s a paid full appointment

I’m sorry to hear this. I know this time can be distressing when you are expecting and feel messed around. I had my baby at Tameside in Feb last year and the everything pre - birth was pretty good. There were a few mishaps with community midwife’s but overall it was decent. I had a c section and where I felt they were poor was post birth when they take you to the main maternity ward 39 (I think that’s what it’s called). The staff overnight were just a bit useless and unhelpful until the morning shift started did I feel comfortable again. Apart from that I was happy with what they did overall. Good luck x

I had my daughter at Tameside in April and I had a high risk pregnancy due to mental health medication I had to take to stay well for my baby girl and I can not fault them at all they was amazing with me during pregnancy and was really good to me on the ward and labour ward. My birth was quite traumatic and they couldn’t do more for me. I ended up being re admitted twice when I was 4 and 13 days postpartum for a week at a time due to complications post partum and they remembered me and my baby and was so helpful while I was really poorly. It can be such a stressful time being pregnant and worrying about hospital but I hope you have a good labour and you and baby are happy and healthy 🩷

I had no confidence with the pre birth appointments, firstly they “lost” me on the system and had no idea who I was after my booking appointment despite me having my first scan booked, cm appointments were better when I changed location and got to see new midwives, 20 week appointment I had to wait over an hour to be told I could just go home, 20 wk rescan I got a trainee who scanned me for 50 mins before getting a senior who told me baby was fine (first time mum I was worried sick longest 50 mins of my life). But…the day I actually gave birth the labour and aftercare staff at the hospital were amazing I couldn’t speak highly enough of them. Then, day 10 check for baby; midwife didn’t turn up. I had to ring the hospital who gave me an hours notice to get up to them which was my first time out alone with the baby.

This worries me as I am concerned about being registered to Tameside. All experience I have had with other wards in the hospital had been awful and it has made me loose trust in them. St. Mary’s hospital in Manchester is supposed to be amazing and they have a much better intensive care unit there. I was also told I was high risk on my first appointment and they seem to be going back and forth. From talking to people who have also been registered to Tameside before, there are very mixed opinions on how they were cared for. Do what you feel is best and if that means registering else where then I would. Just my advice… avoid Oldham hospital as I have heard awful things

I was on growth scans because of immunosupprressent injections because of Crohn's disease. Entire pregnancy was ok, come week 36 on the Monday I hear that my baby isn't growing as much and there's no amniotic fluid around her anymore so I need to be induced because the baby needs to come out. The following day: get sent home due to low staff. Thursday: get sent home due to low staff. They were about to send me home again on the Friday when the midwife who had seen me the day before fought for a place for me. Friday evening I finally had the first tablet. So usually 24hours later you get the second tablet if you're not in active labour. They couldn't continue treatment because of low staff. I've had no checkups, not been put on the monitor until Sunday afternoon when my husband threw a tantrum for endangering his child. I got put on the monitor and hey ho 15 minutes later my baby was born due to an emergency cesarean. They saw on the monitor that she was in distress and turns out the cord was around her neck.

So having to wait nearly a full week after being told your baby needs to come out was very stressful. To think how close I was to losing her.. it didn't stop there. They have forgotten to do certain referrals after her birth, the midwife didn't come for the home visit etc. When on the ward I had a lady whose waters broke and even she had to wait 2 days after to be induced even though there's the risk of infection. I hear there are issues of being understaffed everywhere but it's not reassuring.. I hope the tides will change and that it will get better for you X

I’m only 21 weeks pregnant but the care I’ve received from Tameside has been great from the start. I mentioned suffering with anxiety in my booking appointment, and at my 20 week scan they took the time to talk to me and check in to make sure I was doing okay. Each one of my appointments so far have been thorough and the midwives have been lovely. X

I just had a post term baby (43+2 weeks) and they were awful with me after 38 weeks when I declined induction. After that it was scare tactics and what I deem to be substandard care. My baby girl was born healthy, no issues
