Shoe sizes

How do you all check your child's shoes for the right size? I don't like using Clarks as I don't like the way they measure but looking for ways others check if shoes are too small. Obviously if you can feel the toes this great but a few of the shoes have a hard rubber toe box

Always done Clark’s with both of my children & never had an issues and trust their sizing is perfect!

@Jasmine but they measure when they are sat down, when surely it should be done when stood due to feet spreading. Do you find Clarks size match other footwear?

They measure sitting down, put the shoe on the foot and then get them to stand up and feel around the heel, side & toe to make sure it’s a good fit. Yes, I don’t buy shoes from Clark’s (I don’t like the style) you can go and get feet measure for free without buying. My nearly 5 year old is a size 8 and she wears Converse My 15 months old is a size 4 and wears Converse & Nike. I’ve never had an issue with different sizing for different shoes.

Measure feet from heel to big toe (if you can), then take the tape measure with you to the shop and measure the inside of the shoe, sounds crazy but it works. The shoe can be 0.5 or 1cm bigger than the foot to allow room to grow x

I found that clarks sizing didn't work for other stores x

@Kelly I’ve never had an issue🤷🏼‍♀️

@Jasmine I use a clarks measurer at home and other shoes are always the wrong size. But also, some shoes from the same shop are different lengths haha x

@Kelly we have a Clarks measure at home, I'm assuming the length you get on that is the measurement to take to shops. But then how do you know you are all the way at the toes.

When you buy their shoes, there needs to be a gap of 0.5cm or 1cm in front of the toes for growth. You also need to make sure you buy the right width so their feet don't get squashed. It's all a bit confusing until you've bought a few sizes x
