Vinted issue!

I’ve ordered some baby clothes of Vinted but gutted they’ve arrived and I can tell they smell of smoke despite the seller listed smoke free house etc. will washing the clothes get the smoke smell out properly? 😫 don’t want to be putting my baby in them if not.

I think you should tell the seller you have an issue, you have to accept the order first - you can even send it back tbh

I would try washing the clothes. I have family members who smoke and when they buy our little clothes they initially smell of smoke but after one wash the smell goes but we do just leave them out overnight after they dry just in case. I would also contact the seller about this

I would definitely say there’s an issue with the order. Personally I wouldn’t even use them after washing them as I’m not sure if the chemicals from the cigarettes would fully come out of the clothes but don’t quote me on that, it’s just something I would worry about.

I would do as others have said and raise the issue with the seller, especially if they’ve said smoke free home! Maybe even report them to Vinted. Maybe you could try soaking them in the bath with hot soapy water before washing and see if that helps, I would look up and see if you can find any washing hacks videos on TikTok or something and see if any of those work! ( I looked up some quickly and lots said white vinegar + water soak and then wash) Good luck! 🤞🏻xxx

I'd raise an issue and return them. As Evie said above, I'd be too worried about lingering chemicals. Cigarette smoke/being around smokers is a massive contributor to sids and you don't know how saturated they've been in the smoke. X

Sellers saying they are a smoke free house and the smell must be from transit.. I’ll raise with Vinted but what a game!

I'm in a few vinted pages on Facebook and apparently this is a common problem with people who use the stretchy plastic type postal bags. There was a big thread where people commented saying they've had issues with the plastic bags they were using because it made the contents smell of smoke and they had the items returned and still smelt of smoke but they didn't infact smoke. Obviously not the same case for everyone but just something to consider

Wash with white vinegar and zoflora, then do another rinse. The issue should be gone after that.
