My 2.5 year old still barely eats anything at daycare. It used to stress me out so bad!!! But he’s growing great and he’s happy and smart so I have no idea why he won’t eat there, but it hasn’t had a terrible effect on him.
Adding that he started daycare right around 15 months
@Julia they provide it, they’ve just suggested today that we provide hid snacks so that he has things he definitely likes! But it’s the meals I’m concerned about, hopefully he grows out of it! X
@Lisa that makes me feel better I guess, it’s just so worrying when he’s such a good eater at home! X
My first was like this, in the end we just packed him a lunch everyday.
@Kee yeah we’re trying to establish if it’s just the nursery rather than the food :/ x
I work at a childcare. It's very normal for children to not eat. Once he gets comfortable, he will start to eat. Just remember the food is different from what you make, and if he's just doing mornings, he knows he's going home soon and will eat. Do they give him milk if he doesn't eat?
Nursery food is different to home food. , my son gets stuff like salmon pasta, Mediterranean wrap ,chickpea curry and rice , chill and rice , cuscus and chickens . He doesn’t eat this at home so took him a while to eat it in nursery . Did they give you a menu saying what they have day to day and week by week ?
@Jade Id send in snacks but also maybe back up meals as that way he’ll have something he’ll be able to eat. I work in a nursery and children under 1 have meals provided by parents which is what I was doing for my little girl and I definitely think it makes the transition easier as well x
It’s completely normal as it’s a new environment for him. It can take a couple of weeks for him to start eating for them. Do you provide meals for him or does nursery provide it?x
