Valentine’s Day: unpopular opinion

I get on my socials and see everyone posting pictures and long messages to their SO and I honestly don’t get it. I mean my husband and I will go out for Valentine’s Day but as for the long post etc I don’t understand. Shouldn’t you appreciate your spouse like that everyday and do the small things like buying a gift or flowers here or there? I don’t see the appeal in posting about how great your relationship is if it actually is as great as your making it out to be😅

We always say it’s the couples that post all the time that always seem to have drama or cheating going on 👀

@Jess we do too, especially knowing how some peoples relationships are behind closed doors and how they post 😅

I don’t necessarily think they’re lying about being happy, but I do often think why did you not say this in person or send a text. Why do you think we care? When I want to express how much I love my husband my thought is to tell him, never thought about making a post for random people to see Like pictures are cute but the long messages usually seem like things that should’ve been said in private

i think it’s sweet if it’s not excessive. it’s valentine’s day so it makes sense to do something extra if you or your partner are into that and for some that includes posting photos. some couples hate that stuff some couples like it idk

Everyone loves differently. Some people like to scream it from the rooftops (modern day version =Instagram post) some people are more private about it. It’s okay for people to be and to love differently, there are so many different personalities in the world. Some things that give you the ick might give that girl butterflies. Why not love out loud!

There’s been a couple studies that came out saying couples who post eachother a lot are less happy and are doing so out of insecurity and seeking external validation but idk I consider that to be the couples who are doing it very often not just on Vday. But when the caption says we’ve “been through highs and lows” “overcame challenges” or especially anything referring to the devil It’s a dead giveaway someone cheated 😂

What is so wrong with making a post on Valentine’s Day about your valentine lmao

This is one reason i hate social media more every day. Its very performative, and regardless of if the sentiment is genuine, people share way too much. I feel the same way about multiple posts speaking to/about loved ones who have passed... it feels icky sometimes unless you only have close family/friends on your page

@Melanie nothing is wrong with it, my thing is the people who post a whole book and photo album

My husband and I don't post each other at all lol I don't get the big posts and honestly I think the holiday is dumb lol. This morning I flashed my husband and he grabbed my ass and we said "happy Valentine's Day" and we are content 😂

It’s pretty ick in my opinion and I’m not reading all that lol but I’m happy they’re happy.

lol I never read those. it seems less like theyre celebrating the relationship and more like theyre trying to prove something. That’s none of my business tho lol I’m glad theyre happy

What does it matter ? It's always someone in incognito who wants to be all judgy
