“Pregnancy unknown location”

Sorry you’re going through this. What does significantly risen mean? HCG is supposed to (at least) double every 48 hours, do you know if yours did? If not, it is probably indicative of miscarriage, hoping everthing is ok x

The nurse said she was shocked as it had significantly risen from the 48 hours before. So I’m guessing doubled! My boyfriend doesn’t seem to think you can have ectopic if you have a sac in womb?!

I’ve had an empty sac and still had HCG rising. BUT ive seen lots of people have a scan at 5/6 weeks and not see anything until 7 weeks. I first saw my June 24 baby on a scan at 7 weeks earliest xx

Ectopic is when the egg is stuck in the fallopian tubes so not the same as a chemical pregnancy / miscarriage Were you tracking your ovulation cycles?

@Drei How did it end with the empty sac if you don’t mind me asking? I just don’t see how I could be so off as was tracking period / ovulation/ sex

@Fay But if it were ectopic would we see sac with fluid in womb or would it be in the fallopian tube? Yes I was tracking ovulation and period via the flo app, and had been for a few months and my cycle was regular.

It ended with a medically assisted miscarriage at 11 weeks as my body was still protecting the pregnancy so it was growing and having all the symptoms as normal. I was also ttc ans tracking etc. it’s still very early for you if it’s measuring at 4/5 weeks. It could also be that the sac has stopped growing if you are convinced your dates are correct. But it all sounds positive for you right now. We didn’t see the empty sac until 7 weeks x Sac would be in the fallopian tube in an ectopic. Also apps are never 100% accurate

@Drei Yes I feel something going on like you had then maybe. Gosh pregnancy is a minefield and the waiting around for answers is killing me! Especially as we were so over the moon to fall pregnant 😓 I don’t think will be good news for me but reassuring perhaps not possible to be ectopic. Thank you for sharing xxx

Yes that happened to me before it was a blighted ovum, still had all the symptoms and hcg rising but I ended up miscarrying naturally at 9 weeks

@Lucy I did read about blighted ovem ! Owww so sad ! 😩😭 What a shame after all that anticipation. I thought I had this potentially.

I had this last year… I was 6 weeks pregnant and had an empty sack but hormone levels were continuing to increase. Had various internal scans and they couldn’t find any sign of a fetus. It was touch and go as to whether I was going to need key hole surgery to locate the pregnancy but I ended up passing it naturally in the end. It was called a pregnancy in an unknown area. Sorry it’s not a positive story to tell 😔 praying that your story is different 🙏🏼 x

I had a blighted ovum before - my HCG did still rise, but it was slow. It was diagnosed at a private scan where I had an empty sac, measuring much smaller than it was supposed to be. Sorry if this has happened to you 😞 But it could be that you are just earlier than you think - when you say you’re tracking ovulation - did you use OPKs and BBT or just using an apps prediction?

I went for a scan thinking I should of been around 7+4 but they only saw a sac measuring 6 so had to go back a week later, to which they found a baby with heartbeat measuring 6+4 so even a week later we still measured behind however she said it all looks well with healthy heart, it’s happened with my other babies too and at my 12 weeks scan with them they’d caught up… hope this gives you some hope 🫶🏻xx

hello dear, same happened with me. So, at my 6 weeks only gestational sac was visible and they were saying its not six its so early stage of pregnancy and to come in 2 weeks. Even I don't have any symptoms except sore boobs and bloating. My next scan is on Monday. I am just hoping everything to be fine

With my ectopic there was never a sac seen, the pregnancy was all in my tube. I think the fact you have a sac is more indicative of a missed miscarriage, where your body thinks you’re pregnant even if the baby doesn’t progress.
