Daytime naps

My 11 week old sleeps amazingly at night, but during the day? It basically needs to be a contact nap or in the pram with me on an hour long walk. If I put her in the crib, she will either wake up instantly or last 1 sleep cycle and wake up crying. Any tips on how to improve independent day time naps?

Nope unfortunately... same here. My daughter will only do 25 mins or so in a bassinet or in a moving pram! I baby wear her constantly just to get a nap longer than 25 mins 😭

We are exactly the same 🫠😂 I find I can help her link the cycles if I’m in there just before she stirs and go straight in first a nose rub. Requires impeccable timing and doesn’t always work. My first was exactly the same and eventually just started to link them independently, I tried nearly every trick under the sun. Nothing really stuck or worked for more than a few days. Hang in there xx

I feel this 😂 I just take it as a win to get my sleep during the night. I baby wear her to get my stuff done and increasing all of her activities: tummy time, bouncinette, stories etc. sometimes it’s like having a grumpy little sidekick each day. She is such a fomo baby I have to pretend I’m going to sleep when she is so she does not feel left out and keep herself awake!!!

My baby girl is 16 going on 17 weeks (albeit born 4 weeks early) and this is still my daily reality. It's pretty exhausting to say the least! But very common. She has very minimal self-soothing capacity and often sleeps lightly during naps. I think she's also started going through the 4 month sleep regression because she's waking up even more during naps, and she's now waking up more regularly at night again 😩 For now, while she is still little and can't self soothe, I'm just trying to set foundations, like having nap and bedtime routines, and sleep cues through that process. If she hasn't sorted it out by 6 months, I'll be seeing a sleep consultant 😂

@Hannah i might give baby wearing a go actually, although I hope my back / shoulders can tolerate holding a 6kg baby for that long! Reassuring to hear im not the only one with a poor day time napping bub 🤣

@Maddi great to know we're not the only ones! I went to a parents group recently and they all looked at me as if I was crazy when I said I need to contact nap all day so I got worried 😅🤣

@Tama that's true- we do get good nights 😊 bahaha I might try pretending to be asleep too!

@Crystal good to know we're not the only ones! Mm that's true, I'll try to keep the routines up and hopefully she will grow out of it :)

We are in the same boat. Settles and sleeps really well overnight but naps during the day are a struggle unless they are contact naps or we are ok out and about in the car or pram. It's exhausting and feels like we get nothing done on home days but trying to enjoy the extra snuggles. Wouldn't mind just one nap in the bassinet each day so I can pee and maybe have a shower 😅

Same boat here! My boy can go about 35-45 min in the cot, but wakes up cranky and needs more sleep, so it's a contact nap for another half hr or full hour. I haven't tried baby wearing with naps yet but I might have to soon, I'm going crazy sitting in a chair all day 😂
