@Tiff Maternity pay only goes up to 8 weeks for majority of places.
I feel you!! We bought our house a bit more than a year ago and literally my whole income is to cover our mortgage and my husband’s takes care of everything else. I haven’t gotten paid since December when I used up all my sick and personal days. My sweet husband has been working his butt off to cover everything so I can stay home until march. Hopefully we won’t need to use our savings. I totally understand!!
@Terra 6weeks for me IF I qualify. So far only got my 15 sick days paid. Nothing else 🥲 and I am a city employee. So there u go
@Tiff I got short term disability my first 6 weeks, and it was only 55% of my base pay. The rest is unpaid 😣
@Noemi Nunez I’m the breadwinner between the two of us, so me not working has been killing our bank account. 😭 I can’t spend any of my PTO that I have accumulated because I don’t have the much to begin with, so I need it just in case anything were to happen.
Totally feel this. I go back not this coming week but the next. I am not ready at all. Mine will be in daycare full time because we don’t have any family that can care for him, and where we live, we need both incomes.
I feel you! I work at a dentslmoffice snd we get no maternity pay. I was also not able to tske 12 weeks but I did take 10 with my fiest and now my second (I have 2 weeks left till I go back to work after having my second). But I will say when I went back to work wirh my first I was absolutely dreading it like you and I made myself physically feel ill with worry the day before. But then I went back and everything went smooth and I found I missed feeling like I had something else I was good at and coworkers and such. So this time while I will miss all day with babies and I will get les sleep when I go back.. I am way less worried csuze I know it will all go smooth snd I look forward to the weeks ahead because I know all the fun changes in baby once I get past the 10 week mark! Rolling snd holding a rAttle snd then sitting up etc. It gets more and more fun with each change!
I am in the same boat I had my son 6 weeks ago and went back to work last Monday. I feel so guilty for not being with him through the day but I have to remind myself I am working to better his quality of life. To keep good home for him to grow up in and plenty of food of the table clothes toys etc
same😭 i went back around the 6-7 week mark considering i’m a single mom and bills were piling up and my job literally doesn’t pay maternity leave or FLMA
@Terra oh my gosh, that's insane how do you survive? We get up to a year off in the UK x
@Dii oh lord! Im sorry! It sucks to leave your baby. The US has crappy mat leave laws. I told my husband I wanna move to Finland lol
I work for hospice and I didn’t get any way what so ever from work for 6 weeks. The only thing they offered was my position to be kept.
Pay*
Thankfully my work has me off November- may with 80% pay. If not I’d have to go back soon too.
