So we do ours through the nursery. They send me a form each quarter to fill In and send back. Although you may struggle with nurseries and I know a lot are fully booked. I had to register my LB when I was 15 weeks pregnant to get him a space for this August.
Apply for nursery now if u want them to start in September. They will be eligible for 30hrs free from September. There won't be any information on government sites about the increase yet until around July time as that's when the last term for September term comes to an end however u can apply for 15hrs free and it should either automatically increase to 30hrs for September or they will ask u to reapply. If u want to make sure ask any nursery you view if they will be doing the 30hrs free childcare for under 2s x
Here is a link I have been looking at https://educationhub.blog.gov.uk/2024/09/how-to-claim-15-hours-free-childcare-code/
You'll want to get your name down for a place now, most in my area have a year long waiting list. Funding starts the term after they turn 9 months so it will start in September and you apply for your code the term before and it's done through the gov website then the nursery will you a form to fill in and you just add your code to that.
Apply now! My girl has been on a waiting list since July and we still can't get the days we need for September
https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/15-and-30-hours-childcare-support/working-families This link will give you information regarding applying for funding. In regards to a nursery place you'd need to contact the nurseries you're interested in, they will be in high demand with the change coming!
If my baby is 1 aug 27 do I have to wait until Jan for 30 hours?
@BromMama no your baby will qualify for 30 hours in September, Not January. But you will only qualify if you (& your partner, if you have one) earn more than £184 a week each x
You can apply for a nursery place whenever, many have long waiting lists! As your funding will start in the September you can apply for your code the term before. Look on the gov website and childcare choices for info x
