Scared for diagnostic mammogram

I recently found a lump in boob. Went to the doctor and they sent me to get an ultrasound and a diagnostic ultrasound. I’m really scared since both sides of grandparents had cancer and 3 died from it, and both my parents had cancer, whereas one died from it. Has anyone had to had these test done?

Yeah I've done it. Skip the mammogram and only do the ultrasound. The ultrasound gives more info than the mammogram. It's easy, just feels warm. You'll quickly know whether it's hard tissue, cyst or solid mass and what size.

Thank you, they plan on doing them both in the same appointment. So they tell you their findings that same day?

So the reason I say to skip the mammogram is because it carries the risk of radiation and to me is only a money maker because it does not tell you if it is solid or a cyst. So the ultrasound gives you more information and is much lower risk to your overall health. And yes in the moment they immediately knew my right breast was lumpy from hard tissue (due to hormones but not something that needs treatment), and my left had two solid masses. After that they will say to professionally ensure the type of tumor you would have to do a biopsy and if it is past I think 24mm they say it must be a hollow needle biopsy where they place a small piece of stainless steel in it. I did not do the biopsy because the doctor was very confident that it's extremely likely to be a fibroaedenoma = benign due to my age, how long it has been there with zero change and having 0 signs of malignancy . So i canceled the automatic biopsy appointment they gave me. PM me if you wanna talk it's OK
