Car seat?

We have our 2.5 year old and are due a newborn in June, and are hoping to get the next level in car chair for my toddler so we can use our current car chair for the baby. Does anyone have any suggestions on a car chair that can remain rear facing (but more comfortable for legs) that then become front facing as they get older? Most chairs seem to be from age 4 onwards, so I’d prefer not to buy a whole new 0-3 year car chair only to use for one year!

We have a an Axkid move which is rear facing only that lasts to 25kg which can be up to 7 years old depending on centiles of child. It does not forward face though so youd be looking at getting a high backed booster when the time comes. Dont think theres any that will last that forward face aswell unfortunately. Theres a few car safety groups on facebook that you can enquire on, the admins have their own shops that do the extended rear facing seats. X

We moved our toddler to the enfasafe superia car seat 360° it's suitable for rear facing till they are 105cm then switches to front facing and converts to a booster seat to be used till they are 12 years old / 150cm. Our little one is tall and finds it comfy rear facing. It's R129 safety rated as well x

Axkid range 👍🏻

Car seats that rear face then forward face tend to score badly on safety testing I know things were also changing regarding being able to forward face with a harness. Ages on car seats are always a guide as it depends on your child’s centiles. For example a seat that says age 4 could actually be outgrown by 2 1/2 in a high centile child but could last till age 6 in a low centile child. If you look at axkid, britax and avionaut seats they will be ERF so 25kg/36kg based on child centiles you should be able to get a seat to rear face till at least 6 if not more then you just buy a HBB. Best thing as someone else has said is join a car seat safety group, post age and centiles for height and weight of your child and they will recommend for you :)
