Still not doing it here but she’s trying. She is putting her fork / spoon in the food then brining it to her mouth but she’s not really getting anything lol. She’ll get there in her own time! I just give her one mainly with her dinner every day. She’ll have one & then I feed her with another unless she uses her hands
Maybe try with a variety of different textures? My son does a lot better with thicker foods than thinner or runny foods, so we make his porridge thicker and add peanut butter or granola into yogurt and things. Or get some good messy play with some yogurt going where the goal isn't to eat but to play. Throw some yogurt and some Cheerios into bowls and demonstrate scooping from one bowl into the other. He probably just needs more practice to feel really comfortable with it before he uses that skill in eating
Thank you everyone! I know he will get there in his own time! @Elizabeth I always do it with his weetabix in the morning and make it quite thick 😊 xx
We switched to the regular spoons and forks and he can eat independently. If is soup or yogurt the mess is crazy but if its beans and rice or mashed potatoes he eats sooo much better. Those baby utensils are shit
My son has recently been feeding himself a lot better. I decided to ditch the spoon as he wasn't grasping scooping too well and then when he did he found out how fun it is to fling food off his spoon 😅 he eats a lot better with a fork. We just use some basic Tommee Tippee stainless steal toddler cutlery x
