Creative Calpol giving

My baby used to be fine with calpol but since around 9 nonths hates it and has a complete meltdown. I literally have to force her hands down so she doesn't push me away. I feel awful and don't want to create a distressing memory for her as she cries so much cos she hates it She also won't take it if I mix it in somr food she likes like yoghurt 🤦🏽‍♀️ She's had a temp since yesterday and not sure If she's teething but it keeps returning Help!

Hey why not try holistic for teething I use ABC from Helios pharmacy. Can also use the holistic teething granules they’re available in Sainsbury’s or Tesco xxx

My LG hated taking calpol until I tried it with the spoon and now she actually opens her mouth for it, might be worth a try x

Agree with the spoon trick, my LO hates the syringe thing but will take it from the spoon x

We had to put it on one of my sons feeding spoons for a while or he wouldn’t take it! 🤣

Thanks for the suggestions she actually knows when it's on the spoon and coming for her mouth 🥴 and keeps her mouth firmly shut so the spoon doesn't work! I normally use the Nelsons granules for teething @Oli but I'll look up helios one. I normally mix it in yoghurt and fruit but she was refusing even the yoghurt earlier. She has a temperature so looking to for ways to bring the temp down either with Calpol or other methods. Does anyone use anything other than Calpol/Nurofen?

Not sure if this will work - but my LO loves to chew his bath sponge (not ideal and I do take it off him quickly!). When he was poorly a few weeks ago and refused calpol (touch wood, normally he’s ok), I let him chew the bath sponge and then shoved calpol on a spoon in his mouth at the same time. Worked! 😂. Good luck though - sounds like a rough patch, and you’re not alone x

You could get paracetamol in the form of suppositories, you pop it up the bottom and squeeze the bum cheeks together for a few seconds so they don’t push it out, it’s quite easy and effective

We put a crushed half a calpol fastmelt in yoghurt and she takes that. There's much less of a calpol taste than with the liquid. She absolutely refuses any other way we have tried to give it to her.

Do they take a dummy? We put a tiny drop then dummy straight in, he sucks it down, then a tiny bit more and so forth until the syringe is done!
