Counting/ABCs

My girl isn’t counting yet or doing her Alphabet. She’s can repeat pretty much anything I say to her but she doesn’t know them on her own or understand them. She knows her colors well and has sentences. She talks a lot just worried about her numbers and letters. I bought her some number books recently but she really just talks about animals in the pictures. I’m SAHM btw. I don’t want her to get behind. She’s not really into Ms Rachel anymore it’s hit or miss. Is everyone’s toddler counting and saying abcs ?

That’s not a 2 year milestone, some 2 year olds are definitely good at reciting them but it’s not fully expected at this age. My kiddo knows some numbers and letters but it’s mostly cause it’s something he was interested in so we leaned into it with number and letter play.

My son is not saying the entire alphabet at this point. He knows how to count 1-10 but even with that sometimes he will skip one or two numbers.

She’s not behind ❤️ expecting 2 year olds to understand everything isn’t realistic

As someone who worked in early childhood. Parents are impressed by the ABC’s and Counting. But it’s not a typical age group milestone. If she does it great. Focus on bonding, fine motor, gross motor, emotional awareness, if she’s ready to potty train (if not then just looking for potty training signs) and just helping her co-regulate her emotions. Introducing sensory activities if you can. Those are great for brain development if your looking for things that are great for her brain development

If you are worried check with her pediatrician always first advice on milestones! 😊 your doing great! ❤️

My son doesn’t count it know abc yet either. We have been working on it but definitely a lot to do still.
