Should I be potty training?

My daughter is 1 year old, and I'm trying to wean her off breastfeeding. I also want to start potty training her. Am I moving too fast for her, or should I continue with what I'm doing?

If she’s not showing signs of readiness, I wouldn’t worry about it lol I’m not potty training till my son is showing the signs. I would just keep doing what you’re doing, you can wean her off breastfeeding tho. That’s not too fast or anything

Definitely wait for signs of readiness for potty training. Doing it too early can add pressure and cause withholding or accidents around the house. My daughter is 18 months and has all the signs of readiness aside from consistantly waking up in the morning dry, and we are doing super chill training. She has peed in the toilet multiple times and even asks to go potty sometimes but not always. As far as weaning, you can wean off breastmilk whenever it is right for you!

I've been told that if they aren't voicing it, they aren't ready. I want to just because I'm due soon. But we will likely due pull-ups in a few months just to handle changing times.

It's so tempting to want to do it all at once, but I think it's important to let your little one show you when she's ready for each step. Trust that the signs will come when she's ready to let go of breastfeeding and start potty training. Every kid is different, and pushing too hard can sometimes backfire. Follow her cues and take it slow.

So we have bought a potty chair. My son sometimes will come sit on it fully clothed when he comes into the bathroom with me. Sometimes if he needs a diaper change I will take his diaper off and he will sometimes sit on it without a diaper he has only peed in it once or twice. I always tell him mommy is going potty when we go in there. Sometimes he will tell me potty and I will let him sit on the pot. A couple of times I have noticed he was trying to poop and have sat him on the big pot with the potty chair seat on it. I don't do it every day or consistently right now. He is starting to understand the concept but doesn't fully understand his body signs yet. I highly recommend buying a potty chair so they can get used to it check it out with no pressure to use it yet. That way they can be comfortable with it once they actually understand what it is for and are ready to use it.

I started once baby started walking, just following my child’s pace. We went at set times 1x a day at first, bumped to 3x We also follow poop signs and would go then If my child gave ANY resistance, we did not go. After a couple weeks my child was requesting the bathroom for poop, i rarely change poop diapers now. Usually just if we are out or sick. Pee is a whole different story, some days every pee is in the pull up. Some days a few are in the toilet. We haven’t had a totally dry pee day but I’m not worried about it, it’ll come when it does No tips for breastfeeding and we haven’t weaned yet

@Ciara we are doing something similar. Trying the potty and practicing washing hands 3x a day usually right in the morning, before nap, and before bedtime. We will probably add after nap time in a few weeks. We hope it will help us when our little one officially transitions to only diapers/pullups at bedtime and nap time

@Ciara we are doing something similar. My son is 18 months old. We also dont change poop pull ups but.. pee is also a different story. I don’t put pressure on him so we try to sit him at least 2 times a day. He does ask for “ poop” typically once a day. I have been trying to ween since 12 months but… am still nursing. We got it down to nap and bedtime.

How am I just seeing this?? Lol we started officially last week.
