Eating hands

So my baby is 11 weeks old on Wednesday and has started to eat her hand. Finding this hard to now know when she’s hungry cause she’ll making me think she hungry all the time. I know it’s a new thing cause she’s found her hands but does anyone else’s baby do the same? How do you stop / figure out what they actually want.

Following cause my boy does this !

my bubs always loved eating her hands sometimes it’s cause she’s hungry but now that she’s 11 weeks it’s mainly to self soothe. I’ve noticed if she wakes in the night she’ll suck her hands to try and get herself back to sleep. If my bubs hungry she’ll be looking around side to side, rooting if we rest the bottle/nipple on her upper lip, closed fist close to her chin and obvs late sign - the crying 😅

Have the same thing going on :) She also eats her hands when she's tired / sleepy as well actually 😅 I usually look at the time to see when her last feed is to see if its hunger etc

Same thing with my 11 week old. My mom removes his hand (being the dentist that she is.. she said thumb sucking will ruin his teeth) but my pediatrician said just to let him be, it's a part of his growing up. I try to distract him so that he'll stop sucking his hand/thumb. And I'll look at the time that gives me an idea if he's hungry or just self soothing.

I recently watched a YouTube video about eating hands and how good it can be for babies to do so. It helps them work their tongues which get them into shape for eating foods.

The video was called baby mouthing by Emma Hubbard
