Pre-eclampsia

I'm 34+3 and have been diagnosed with what looks like an atypical presentation of pre-eclampsia. My BP is difficult to control but no protein in my urine or any other symptoms. I can't fault the team at the hospital, they've been great but I have none of the risk factors so it's come as a bit of a bolt from the blue. Does anyone have any pre-eclampsia success stories (as it were)?

I found out i had pre eclampsia the day i was in labour i had no symptoms apart from 4 x the amount of protien in urine. We were rushed in for an emergency section due to LO getting stuck and stressed and i was about to go in to an eclampic fit. (My last pre natal app i couldnt do a wee and i mentioned about coming in the next day i was told oh no youll be fine you have been up until now) so please just if anything changes and there not listening push it to them. It was a week later, day before next app i went in and all this had happened if was very severe. As soon as i had the spinal everything came done and the c section was lovely and calm. Id say was a success as still had a lovely experience even due to all that was happening at the time. I had him at 38+4

I had similar with high BP but then would come back to borderline. They did a load of blood tests to rule out preacclamsia, have you had those done.

I had high blood pressure from 25 weeks pregnant and had all the signs of pre eclampsia without the protein in the urine. I was induced at 39 weeks as the hospital didn’t want me to go full term. I ended up getting pre eclampsia during labour and had carry on taking my medication for 4 weeks post birth and had a couple of doctor appointments to check how I was doing! Definitely just keep an eye on how you are feeling and if any of your symptoms get worse. I use to go for weekly appointments and the triage at the hospital was amazing if I had any concerns. Always put my mind at ease! Both me and my little boy are all happy and healthy! 🤍

Hi @Katie, I have had my blood screens taken. At the moment they are borderline for pre-eclampsia but so far are on the right side of things. I've had them taken 3x in the last two weeks just to keep an eye on things

@Emily that sounds the same as me. I'm 34 weeks and they didn't seem too concerned. Not taking any action. As long as they keep monitoring you I wouldn't worry

I’m not too different - high BP (although it does dip too) and small amounts protein in urine. Also suffering from visual disturbances, swelling and headaches. I go for monitoring every 2 days at hospital so I do feel if anything escalates it will be spotted quickly. I’ve been told by my community midwife to expect induction between 36-38 weeks. Wishing you all the best in your journey xx

I got diagnosed at 31 weeks, was admitted to hospital for 3 days and then I came home and went to DAU every day for monitoring and I then gave birth by emergency c section at 35 weeks, my boy was in SCBU for 28 hours and then he came out to me. I don’t know if you would call this a success story but I’m fine now and so if he so I guess you would say it is x

I found out I had pre eclampsia when I was 31 weeks pregnant after being told a day earlier I didn’t have it😂 I had to have regular checks and ended up being sent to the MAU by my midwife. I was one the highest dosage of two blood pressure medications and was in hospital nearly every day (including an 8 night sleepover there and another one that was 2 or 3 nights). I had my daughter at 37 weeks via C-Section, she weighed 5lbs 13oz, and did go down to 5lbs 4oz. We went home the day after she was born and hasn’t had any related issues since. She’s actually on the higher percentile of height for her age now and is very cleaver bless her. She’ll be 3 years old in July. I wish you all the best and hope that your baby is happy and healthy baby ❤️ (Remember if anything feels off even in the slightest get checked. You can’t be too careful especially seeing as it might not just effect your baby, but it will you too❤️)

I went from having low blood pressure to high or borderline (depending on which midwife took it) in the last two weeks of pregnancy. I had no other symptoms and no protein in the urine so I just had to go in every few days for a blood pressure check. They weren’t worried and I’d already been offered induction at 40 weeks due to it being an ivf pregnancy but I gave birth at 39+4 and as soon as I’d had my lo my blood pressure went back to being low. The midwife joked that it was just my body getting ready for labour 😂.
