Encourage more words

Hi all my son just turned one in January. He does say dada more so when he feels like it. He does babble but isn’t crazy crazy vocal. I’m trying to encourage him sayin mama or ba for ball or something. My peds keep saying give him some time until he’s about 15 months. But my girls who are now 10 and 8 had a been saying dada, mama and atleast no by 1. My 8 year old is also ASD and on the milder side of ASD. So you can only imagine the worry and overlooking everything!

The best way to encourage language is to model it and narrate everything you do. The more exposure they have to language, the more they pick it up. It can be really hard not to compare milestones between kiddos too, but try not to think in that bubble. Sending love. 🩷

Boys generally take longer to talk than girls. My first boy barely had any words at 2. All of my girls were way ahead of the game for talking. This boy turned 1 on the 11th and has 3 words that he uses very sparingly.

@Tosha hi, thanks for your comment we are doing this. Thank you.

@Sarah my baby only has one and it’s dada he use it when he feels like it. Can be randomly for hours or once or twice the next day. My girls were walking by 1, had more words by 1. I just don’t want to miss anything or have him behind 🥴😩

@Brianna my guy says Abba (daddy) all day long.. he's said hi maybe 3 times and Emma (mom) a couple of times..

The show Ms Rachel is supposed to helps with speech in young kids. My daughter loves it! Maybe it would help.

@Kels🌸 it’s all my son watch he loves it but no words more then dada and some ah ohh and baba
