And there are absolutely zero guarantees on how a labor and delivery, as well as recovery will go. Each pregnancy is totally it's own. Anyone who told me for sure one way or another, I'd immediately question. But that's just me.
@Ashley Yeah so in my case it wasnāt like a full on true episiotomy and it was to the side not down..he saw that I was giving up on pushing, I wasnāt doing the right techniques anymore bc I was too tired, I was straining, etc, I just couldnāt give anymore, and he basically told me, he is SO close to being out and by the looks of it he thought I was going to tear *severely* without help, so he said if I was okay with it he would do the tiniest cut (when I say tiny I mean I couldnāt even see it after, it was SO small) and he was 100% right, baby came out so easily on the next push, that tiny space was all he needed, and I didnāt tear anywhere.. So it wasnāt so much that baby wouldnāt have fit or anything, it was more that I full blown had no more energy to push lol š My bff ripped hole to hole and 3 other directions.. So Iām SUPER happy with my decision bc my recovery was AMAZING comparatively- I just would loooove to not have to deal with either circumstance this second time around ššš
@Abby, you might not! It's so individual to each delivery! You can look up perineum massage for labor and delivery and get some ideas there. Also, working on your pelvic floor strength will help. Lots of kegals. At the end of the day, it's just luck of the draw!

Didn't need them the 1st. Needed tons the 2nd (internal and external - all the way around and almost hole to hole! Terrible in a super fast delivery!). Didn't need them the 3rd time! It is totally dependent on how your delivery goes and the position of baby! I highly recommend NOT doing an episiotomy! You can (and usually do!) Still tear in other areas! Letting your body stretch on its own is best. A good doctor will help massage and gently stretch where needed, as needed, when baby is coming through.
