Pumping and all things boobs

Anyone else having leaky boobs but not able to produce enough milk for the baby? I’ve tried to get my baby to latch on but no luck. Girl rages when we don’t have her milk ready. I’ve tried pumping on schedule but I feel like it’s hurting my boobs more than anything else. If I’m lucky, I get 2oz in a 1hr session of pumping. Any advice on how to produce more?! Totally down to diet or drink some magic potion here!

I drink lots of coconut water and electrolytes along with my regular water intake! I also make sure I keep myself fed and eat lots of protein. Since she isn't latching well, I would make sure you are also doing as much skin to skin as possible ☺️

Just remember pumping isn’t an indicator of supply. Some mamas don’t respond to a pump but can successfully nurse their babies. Maybe try hand expressing the more you empty the more you tell your body to make more milk

Make sure you have the right flanges for your pumps! Drinks LOTS of water, body armor really helps me and eat 3 good meals a day! And what balad potato said, try hand expressing or even a manual pump!

Hey, i have 6 month old twins and cried for the 1st 2weeks trying to make sure I could feed them. Supplemented donor milk for that time which is very expensive. It's best to drink half your weight in oz of water/coconut water daily (ex. 200lbs drink 100oz of water), eat organic oatmeal, make sure you are eating regular meals, and minimum stress. Massage breasts during hot shower, while Pumping and feeding. Pumping was best every 2hrs for 15 to 20 min. Only did 1hr session once a day to increase volume every so often. I nurse and pump. I'm in a breastfeeding program and fb group that helps a ton. I have the spectra pump, and had to buy special sized flange as the 24 is too big. Proper flange size makes a big difference

Hi experiencing the same thing. I had a very crazy inverted nipple issue and it would hurt like crazy. Eventually it cracked and healed. Believe and keep pumping. You need to manage your stress levels. It’s really hard to not stress out at this point. But this can help. And as all the others say yes… you can consider following water, food and all.

And deep breathing! My milk flows so much better when I am relaxed, happy, and even laughing.

Hey! I don’t have supply problems but my girl does the exact same thing. I pump and nurse when I can, but she has latch issues and gets pissed off at the nipple most times. I found that she responds better when she’s calmer AND her suckling stimulates my boobs to make more milk. So here’s what I do: when she wakes up to eat I will begin pumping while my partner gives her a bottle. Let’s say she’s eating 3 oz total, he’ll give her 2 while I pump. I pump for as long as it takes her to finish that bottle but never more than 30 minutes. When she’s done with the bottle, is calmer but still alert enough to try… I work on latching her to me. Most times she goes back to the bottle to finish up and get full, but the next time I pump I find that I get a little more over time. I first noticed this when I tried to nurse her one time and failed.. then I began pumping while her dad fed a bottle. I realized I got way more if she nursed on me first, even if it was only for a couple minutes.

I switched to nursing her AFTER I pump because she seems more patient so she latches for longer or TRIES to latch for longer, and it stimulates my pretty empty boobs to be making more. Basically, they’re empty and my baby is telling them hey I’m not done make me some more!

Try nipple shields too, that should help alleviate the pain. Silverettes after too!

Make sure you have the correct flange size for your nipples! Drink a ton of water and research different pumping strategies for your specific breast pump. Also, seek out the guidance of a lactation consultant to help you navigate this!
