Maternity Pay & Benefits

Hi, my first baby is due in June, I live in Northern Ireland but work in the south of Ireland so I am paid in euros and pay tax to the south, has anyone had experience with this regarding what I am entitled to and in which area, I feel like I’m going to fall through the net regarding benefits, and worried about the financial impact Thanks

Go to your local community advice organisation, hopefully they should be able to help

Also following! I am getting maternity pay from the south because that’s where my prsi contributions are. Feel free to message me!

Hi! I live in North and work in South too. Regarding child benefit, you will need to apply for child benefit in North and south. NI will pay their rate, and ROI will top it up, because their child benefit is bigger. I don't have personal experience regarding maternity pay, but I think you get everything from the ROI. Borderpeople.info is very useful website for all the questions regarding working in one and living in the other country. So, try there. And also, check with citizen advice and social welfare. They should know what are you entitled to. I see you wrote that you pay your taxes to the ROI. Do you do tax self assessment in the North every year aswell? Not sure do I need to do it or not...

Also following! Make sure you have a public service card and online MyGovID as you need this to access your Maternity Benefit from MyWelfare in ROI
