My little one doesn’t eat much at all either, it’s often a win if he has some peas for his dinner. He went from the 25th to 2nd percentile and is breastfed. I was told by the health visiting team and a doctor that breastmilk wouldn’t be substantial at this age but to give formula. Is your little one putting food to their mouth/ playing with it) We had a health visitor come out and watch his eating. She said he’s eating more like a 7 month old and she said that as he was playing with the food she wasn’t overly worried but to give formula and not just cows milk/ breastmilk. She assured me that some babies just take longer than others to get into it.
My LB is not a great eater either. If it doesn’t get thrown about, he just spits in all out. I’m also very worried about it but the HV just said to keep going, he’ll eat one day
Hi @Harriet just to say that that is completely wrong advice from the health visitor. Breast milk is really nutrient dense - the only things it doesn’t contain are iron and zinc so if you focus on foods with those in when feeding baby then they will be getting all the nutrients they need! Here’s a post from an IBCLC about it https://www.instagram.com/share/BAf34SIrzK
Same here. She turns one in two weeks and will eat maybe a quarter of a wheatabix for breakfast and tiny bites of things for lunch and dinner. My son wasn’t like that at all but when he was her age he was about 24lb she’s only about 18lb so I’m thinking she’s probably got a little tummy in comparison. Also things like teething make a difference. My little one still has none 😅 hoping when they all inevitably pop through she will be happier. I try to give multi vitamin every day mixed into breakfast to put my mind at ease.
She will eat what she wants to eat, when she wants to eat it. Don't stress, so long as she's getting plenty milk she's fine. Don't compare yourself or your baby to anything you see on here!
