Much rather a dummy than fingers or thumbs which is unsanitary especially as they get older and you can’t take them away whereas dummy you can x
My son hated dummies and wouldn’t take it so I never continued to force it because in the long run it saves his teeth and my bank! 🥹💙
We never have used dummies! Never tried and never wanted to. Its never been needed for us.
i let my little one use me as a pacifier when she needs to comfort suck but we’re thinking of introducing a pacifier. the one we’ve decided on is the ninni co pacifier as it mimics breast shape and supports healthy oral development for uses of mouth muscles and teeth growth
My baby is 10.5 months old now. She is EBF and I decided not to use dummies or bottles. I tried one a few times as she had terrible colic, but she won't take a dummy or a bottle. I don't feel like it's necessary, and its more hygienic without one in my opinion but some babies have a stronger desire to suck than others, and it can be a good comfort to them, especially at nighttime. I still mostly breastfeed to sleep. It's completely your choice. I was told not to introduce a dummy or bottle for the first 6 weeks to prevent the baby from getting nipple confusion. It's also possible to miss hunger cues with a dummy so this is something to consider. My daughter uses a sippy cup now, and I have just introduced a tommee tippee non spill sippy cup, which she seems to be getting along with really well. Wish I had got one sooner. My baby also sucks on her hands/fingers. They find their mouth and like the feel of it. Everything is so new to them. My baby also used to cluster feed a lot as a newborn but it gets better x
