Silent reflux

Has anybody's baby officially been diagnosed with silent reflux? I'm not sure if my son has it, he shows a lot of signs of it but I don't know if it can be officially diagnosed, not that it matters I just think it would make my anxiety calmer if I had an official diagnosis of it. Also if anybody can share their little one's symptoms I would appreciate it, mine are the following: - loud gulps throughout the day - frequent hiccups - pulls a face like he has tasted something nasty - feeding is hit and miss (I have had him weighed today, 3 weeks pp and he is only just above his birth weight) - grunting sounds whilst trying to settle to sleep - occasional sick after feed - extremely hard to burp at times Any advice would be appreciated!!

My son will be 4 weeks old on Friday and is showing the same symptoms. Im now burping him half way through feeds and sitting him up a little while feeding so he is not so flat. I hope this helps a little 🤞

Hi lovely! Yes my 4 week old has been diagnosed he has been prescribed Gaviscon for baby which is working for the pain he was in however most symptoms still persist. His symptoms are Constant sneezing and coughing Grunting Constant hiccups Gulping Lots of trumping Sounds wheezy at times after a feed Before the gaviscon he was very unsettled crying lots and had lots of gripping pain where he would pull his knees up and moan. I would suggest going to see your GP I hated seeing my baby in pain and unable to help him 😭

My little boy has silent reflux was noticed by health visitor she said if baby swallows a lot when not drinking it’s usually a sign! But he also used to make faces as though he brought something up & gag. He was also quite sicky & hard to burp. The dr gave us baby gaviscon and we use one in morning & one at night (dr advised not to use every feed as can cause constipation) and we also use infacol on the feeds without baby gaviscon and we’ve noticed a difference very rarely sick now (sometimes some spit up but that’s normal) x

@Natasha the sneezing too!!! I didn't realise this was a symptom but he does sneeze and awful lot as well! Thank you so much, I will give the doctors a call and see what they recommend x

@Chelsea thanks so much! This sounds very similar to us!!

Yes the sneezing is constant bless them! Sometimes up to 8 times in a row 😂 the gaviscon is definitely helping though which is good and so far no constipation!

I feel like these could be normal baby symptoms too! But no harm checking with health visitors x

I was just coming in here to post the same thing!! She has these symptoms. I'm stressed, researching whether it's silent reflux, lactose intolerance, or anything else. I’m exhausted. What keeps me is that she is a happy baby. She rarely cries, just when she is hungry. Were your babies very unsettled before the diagnosis?

@Ana only after a feed the rest of the time he was super chill!

Thank you @Natasha!

@Ana my little man gets unsettled occasionally it's not constant!! I'm definitely going to speak to the doctor tomorrow for some advice

Yes, my first had silent reflux and she was prescribed carobel it helped and my little one is now on carobel for reflux. Both are CMPA babies too x

My baby is 7 weeks and actually has very similar symptoms. She sneezes often and gets hiccups a lot. She does occasionally spit up. She arches her back and hates lying flat. I'm going to ask the doctor at her 8 week check next week.

My first had silent reflux and the main symptom is that he was a screaming baby. He would never cry like a cute baby cry, he would scream in pain. He was impossible to put down and was only okay when sleeping upright on us.

Following. My baby has been suffering with reflux - not sure if she has silent reflux too.
