I have a July 2022 and July 2024 baby. My toddler went from 4 days down to 2 days when I began my mat leave. He still says I’m choosing the baby over him. It’s hard hearing that. But I know for those two days he is well entertained, fed at the right times and no TV for those hours. And at home I can focus on the baby and me more. You need to do what’s best for you and your new born. It’s very difficult in first few months especially if you’re breast feeding
Awww thank you so much for the advice guys. I really appreciate it. It's so true like I know he will have more fun at day care than being at home and I suppose the first few months will be hard. I just know it's best for him and also the newborn also and me too haha. It's just most of us usually feel that guilt. I will definitely make sure to spend as much time with him when he's back and at weekends. Thanks guys
Yes and involve him in taking g care of the baby. Also when the oldest is home, use language with the baby like ,"hold on your big brother/sister needs me right now" it helps them understand that you are putting then first sometimes too . Does that make sense?
I had a baby October and I still send my boy 2 days a week to nursery
I felt guilty when I had my oldest go to. Daycare and I kept my little one home after he was born. the thing that helped me was knowing that he had more fun at daycare, then he would at home and I also made sure to give him more attention once he got home from daycare to help with the transition of the new baby. That allowed me to focus on the new baby during the day and then give him personalized time when he got home from daycare it seemed to work really well
