My LO did this for 2 months solid with everything I offered her and I was starting to get really disheartened because it felt like she wasn’t really eating anything and then one day she just stared scoffing everything I put down to her 😂 just stick with it! It can feel like you’re preparing food just to be spat out or thrown on the floor but keep offering and they will get there eventually! I think the spitting out is all part of them learning and exploring textures x
@Cherrelle cut everything into tiny bite size pieces. So for example a slice of toast I cut into 64 squares (8x8) and she can eat them safely. I just made the squares slightly bigger today and she managed them well. I may be overly cautious but it’s meant she’s eating more instead of gagging and spitting out. Plus her pincer grasp is great because of it! X
@Marissa thanks for the advice, I've been keeping most things baton shapes, but now he's 9 months I guess I should start serving smaller pieces
Following as my baby has been doing this for months now. He takes a big bite, chews it, realises it's too much, and spits it out, rather than taking smaller more manageable bites. I don't know how much he actually swallows
