I hope I’m not alone…😔 Also TW sex chats & labor story.

I am 5 months PP & had an awful labor, I was induced, spent 36 hours in labor, had my waters broken by the midwife, a hormone drip, epidural, episiotomy, assisted forceps delivery, 3rd degree tear, lost 700ml of blood & was rushed to theatre soon after giving birth, to top it all off I spent 3 days in the NICU with my daughter due to some concerns with her heart. Two points, firstly I don’t think I’ve processed my birth af all and I really don’t know what to do about it, I’d love to be able to speak to someone about it but I don’t know of any services available. Also sex post partum, I’ve still not had sex with my boyfriend yet, he’s so unbelievably understanding and puts o pressure on me whatsoever. But I’m just so anxious and worried about the first time we do. It’s not so much the pain or discomfort I’m worried about, we’ve been intimate in other ways but everytime he comes tries to put a finger inside me I just feel like I’m transported back to my labor and I feel so stressed, does it get easier? Any tips, advice or similar experiences would be appreciated 🤍

You can request a birth debrief 💖

@Sophie really? what is that? any idea how I can request one? x

They go over everything that happened, lots of people find it helps , I believe iyoull find it on your hospitals website where you delivered x

Yeah some of my friends had it and found it incredibly helpful, ask your hospital. You could also ask a health visitor for direction on who to speak to, but GP should be able to forward you to a therapist.

Apart from the nicu stay I feel like I’ve written this post! So sorry to hear you had it tough, I have no advice but I feel exactly the same, you’re not alone 🫶🏼

@Maria I’ll deffo look into this x

@Steph I’m so sorry, it’s awful isn’t it 🤍

Not sure if you’re in the UK or not but if you are, sometimes the birth debriefs are called “birth reflection clinics”. If you can’t find anything on the hospital website, get in touch with PALS and either ask if they do the debriefs/ clinics, or if they say no, ask if you can speak to a midwife and have one x

I had a similar with forceps and severe blood loss and stayed in hospital for transfusions but I did find a debrief appointment really helpful x
