Anyone had Cholestasis during pregnancy? If so what was your experience

Hey everyone, I’m 29 weeks and for the last id say 14/15 weeks I’ve been itching pretty consistently. I do have a condition that causes my hands and feet to itch also but that usually comes with a rash and a burning sensation too. What I’m experiencing now sounds like cholestasis in pregnancy. I’ve had my liver and bile tested today so awaiting the results of those. Just wondering if anyone has had or has it and what it’s been like for everyone else? The midwife today said if I have it I’ll be consultant lead instead of midwife lead and I wondered what people’s experiences were like with that too?

I did. I had severe cholestasis, my bile acids were 115µmol on my first test then jumped to 135µmol on my last. It's scary I know. My baby was supposed to be being induced at 35 weeks and he came earlier today. He's perfectly healthy though and even managing to breathe by himself (though he's still on machines because he's so premature). It's a scary time when you're diagnosed but I can tell you now, my story with it, although it sounds scary, has been the best outcome I could have asked for. Feel free to keep in contact with me if you need support. I know it feels super lonely too xx

@Caitlin congratulations on your little boy! How did you manage symptoms when you were diagnosed? I find myself going mad with the itching and I’ve not even been diagnosed with it so far! Thank you, hope your little boy and you are both doing well x

@Holly tbh it was incredibly difficult. I was prescribed urso, antihistamines and aqueous cream with menthol in it plus got recommended chamomile lotion. I found that the urso helped quite a lot after a few days but still got itchy ofc so mostly I just had to cut my nails so I didn't bleed every time I scratched and just had to try not to scratch which is wayyyyy easier said than done, I know.
