Tummy time, high contrast cards. High contrast rattles (his sister loves shaking them for him 😆). Also laying on a play mat under a play gym. They don’t need a lot at this point entertainment wise, just lots of love, cuddles and interactions 🥰
Ball pit playmat! I laughed at my partner when he put him on it at 2 weeks but he loves it!
You’re doing loads! All they need at this age is to look at you really ☺️ It’s recommended to avoid screen time until two years. You might like this series on YouTube - https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNPhpK-rvFSvCSfmM9P8xLH9NBJ6wwsro
Until my baby was about 5 weeks she wasn't super interested in anything really so I'd say I only did what you did.
I'd say you're doing plenty. I do playmat, tummy time, cuddles, singing and doing little actions on her tummy, rocking in her swing. My son likes showing her sensory things so we turn the lights off and put the light wand on or roll a light ball around infront of her, bubbles and songs with a sensory scalf (I'm a SEN sensory teacher so have these to hand) She's 4 weeks, sometimes she's interested.. sometimes she falls asleep lol.
Toddler 😅 I feel like my 3 yo provides plenty of stimulation for my 6 weeks old
I feel exactly the same with my six week old. I also show her high contrast cards, put her on the play mat under play gym, do stretches and try reading but she isn’t engaged with that and normally cries by page 2. I’ve tried getting her interested in a rattle but I don’t think she quite understands it yet.
You're doing plenty! Just being alive and developing as rapidly as they do is providing enough stimulation at this point. I just recently started what I call "flat viewing", when my little one became more aware of his surroundings. You just pick him up and walk around your place talking about everything you can see in great detail. Don't be afraid to be trivial, just talk talk talk.
I wouldn’t worry he’s only 3 weeks old they don’t need as much as you think
My 3 week old baby loves to go for walks in the pram and we talk and sing to him lots. He loves the cards too!
I have a 3 weeks old too, and when they’re awake, I carry them forward facing around the house while I do things and talk to them. She likes to look at the window! We have a little flat play gym that she looks up at which entertains her it about 15 minutes.
Like you I do tummy time and contrast cards. I also put the radio on and sing and dance with them, not sure the songs are age appropriate (imagine the friends scene when they sing “I like big butts”) but I’m entertained!
I honestly think that’s beyond what most people are doing, I wouldn’t worry at all that it’s not enough. His eyes won’t be good enough to watch/ see the tv their vision is pretty limited at this point :) tummy time and visual things are perfect
