Try him and if it doesn’t work, wait. Initially we had the potty out in the house but he just couldn’t put the two together, he knew he needed a wee but couldn’t hold it till he was on the potty. We tried in summer when he was nearly 2.5 and after one day of nothing on the potty we tried again at Christmas and he was trained in a few days.
We had a potty in each bathroom in the house. She would sit on her if one of us used the toilet. Would need to ask her for A few days if she needed a wee. Nappy off in the house, then knickers. We started the week she turned 2 and she was done within a week. X
We did the put pants on her & hope for the best approach. She's doing ok we've had a few accident free days, but her personality is she doesn't want to stop playing & go to the toilet ever so we've having a lot of dribble accidents. She'll tell me she needs a wee when she's so desperate she can't hold anymore & has already done a dribble. Most of the wee goes on the potty but she still needs a change of clothes.

Well we brought a potty with s flush noise on amazon and we give him periods where he doesn't have a nappy on and he just sits on the potty.
