Formula fed

Is 5oz too much for a 3 week old? He’s draining 4oz every bottle and around 5-8pm when he’s having these 4oz he’s crying for more an hour later, I want to up him but I dont want to give him a sore tummy

You could try it, and if he’s not being sick (spit up is normal but actual sick) then means his tummy can handle it 🥰 I tried to move my 4 week at the time to 5oz as he was draining all bottles but his tummy couldn’t handle it and was being sick after every bottle x

What does your baby weigh? Weight and hunger cues are more important than age. Ours was 9lbs born so was easily finishing 4oz at 3 weeks x

My wee one as i was using the prep machine id make 4oz bottles and took it off her about 3.5oz for the first few and then she took the whole 4 no problem!! I upped her again at 4 weeks to 5 as she was draining it but i just let her take as much or as little as she wanted and just kept an eye on her incase she was sicky from it x

My little girl is 4 weeks on Sunday and she has been drinking 5oz for the last week or so just because she was draining every bottle and was still so hungry, she was 9lb 9oz when she was born though. You could always try upping the amount of formula and if you find that it’s too much and your baby is being sick after every bottle, drop back down to 4oz and feed more often xx

My little boy has 5oz of formula!! My health visitor and midwife have both said as long as he’s not throwing up and is comfortable after the bottle then it’s obviously what he needs! I was also worried at first but my boy is a chunk and is happily gaining healthy weight xx

@Hannah he weighs 7lb 6oz x

If he's hungry, he's hungry. 😊 My health visitor advised me that babies have the ability to know when they're full, so you can't over-feed him. 💕
