Skincare

I’m turning 41 next week and I’m currently a SAHM with a 13 month old., I’ve really neglected myself this last year and I want to fix that. Starting with skin care. Would love some suggestions. Affordable drugstore skincare. That you feel has changed your life. And skincare routine. TIA.

Hey!! 41 FTM here (due soon!) are you in USA or UK? X

I use sunscreen all the time. That’s really helped me. Amazon has these great steam eye masks. I started using them when my son went down for naps.

So many people on tiktok have suggested using zinc (like baby diaper cream). I tried it since i always have it on hand and for me, putting it on overnight did not work but putting it on and leaving it on for about 5 to 10 mins (while I am bathing the little one) and then rinsing it off and moisturize as usual has done wonders for my 44 year old skin. I'm literally glowing the next day. At first, I thought it was a coincidence, but nope. I do this every other day.

40 yo FTM here I am in the thick of it (2 weeks post partum) so I don’t have great skincare recs but one thing that has made me feel a little more human is St Tropez face mist. It’s like a self tanner that’s very light I spray it liberally on my face at night. It gives me a little color so I don’t look as dead as I feel lol

@Kathryn im USA. And Congratulations! @Marilyn that sounds amazing. I will look into st tropez. Being the dead of winter I’m so pale. And being home I don’t feel like putting makeup on. After I had my son my skin was extremely dry it hurt I purchased ponds for very dry skin and it worked amazing. But now a year later I’m still using it but my skin is back to normal. And I’m bored of using it.

A cocktail’s of Vitamin e, hydraulic acid serum, glycerin and aloe every night on my face and Vaseline on my wet feet right out the shower then directly in socks. I use dollar store face wash. Small things like putting baby oil on after the shower because I never feel like putting on lotion. Brushing my lips every night when I brush my teeth and putting on Carmex. I was the same way when I was in the thick of it.

@Jules You put it on your entire face?

@Trista hi! yes, just not directly under my eyes. And I only leave on for 5 no more than 10 mins (the time it takes to bathe the little one) and then wash off with my face wash. I have combination skin, so doing this every other day or so works perfect for my skin. Some people put it on overnight. That didn't work for me. Good luck.

@Jules I have oily yet dry skin and break out easily from topical stuff. Do you have issues with any of that?

Sounds like you're looking for "unsexy skincare"! Skincare that's effective that isn't hyped up, marked up, or overhyped. Just something that works.
