I can’t speak from a race perspective as I am white, so I’m not gonna try to speak from an experience I do not know. But I live in NYC and have already submitted an application for 3K this fall which I’m personally super excited about. My October baby has stayed home with my husband while I work and I really look forward to the social interaction he will get as we can’t afford private alternatives that provide the same kind of structured social environment.
Look outside of public education if that's an option for you. I'm a SAHM but taught for many years in public school and that's before this whole year being the dumpster fire it is and I will not be sending my kid to public school. Right now we are looking into a preschool as he too is very bright. But I'll need to work to pay for it so lots up in the air.

Completely understandable. I’ve heard of people looking into micro schools. Which is basically hiring a teacher for a small group of kids. You can be more aware of the curriculum, kids get more one on one but still have socialization. I’ve seen a lot of public school teachers looking to leave for these kinds of positions because of what you mentioned, safety concerns, and pay.
